Waze-Android Auto: Why You Should Not Want One
Waze on Android Auto is something most of us would love to have and we can’t wait for that moment when Google announces on its availability. This cannot be helped as Waze is rated to be the world’s most relied on map application hence it will be perfect if Waze is usable on a car’s infotainment system.
But then again, there is a chance for Waze to offer a bitter experience and this is forewarned by the lads at University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. The students conduct a business research and learned that Waze’s delay on Android Auto is due to marketing.
Google is apparently tweaking Waze so that it can collect live driving data from the driver to identify what you need most at that particular time. Once the need is identified, Google will hold a live auction for ad space so that advertisers can promote a relevant product to the users. In other words, the driving experience may get disrupted by the ads on Waze.
The way we see it, this makes complete sense as it also explains why Waze was not integrated during Android Auto’s debut date. But of course, until Waze truly gets released on Android Auto, we can’t confirm on the above and it is advisable to take it with a grain of salt.
