PSVR: Fallout 4 Hopes Hanging On A Thread

By  |

In December last month, an interview with Bethesda confirmed that the company is interested in developing Fallout 4 VR. The virtual reality version of Fallout 4 was teased at last year’s E3 and it saw great potential with its development.

Today however, the hopes for Fallout 4 VR have quietened down and this happened after Pete Hines shared that Bethesda Studios has not much new things to offer for Fallout 4. With the Fallout Series and Elder Scrolls Series being the only two names being directly developed by Bethesda, it strongly suggests that the game developer has shifted their focus to Elder Scroll 6.

This is something Sony will not want as they are surely hoping for Fallout 4 VR to develop. Sony had just released the PSVR and they need a full blown title to turn the virtual reality headset into a must-have platform for every gamer.

But of course, nothing is certain at the moment and we don’t know the true fate of Fallout 4 VR just yet. Bethesda is clearly needed to provide more information on the status of Fallout 4 VR.

There is a full PSVR game coming out this month….called Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The demo is amazing with the VR. Id like to see some boxing games or even a ufc game with the VR. Something on those lines. And ALOT more horror games like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, etc… I think the horror games in the end are gonna be what saves VR.

Did Bethesda ever express interest in Fallout 4 VR on Playstation? I thought Bethesda specifically said for it was being developed for Vive (and did not imply anything more). Also, Elder Scrolls 6 has been flat out denied as an upcoming title. Pete Hines said it won’t be at E3 2017 or 2018 so we are looking at possibly seeing it in three years. Bethesda has confirmed they have three other larger projects they are working on that are not Fallout or Elder Scrolls, but at one point they said “larger” was a bit subjective so maybe it’s not actually 3 games but more things like mods (maybe VR is one of the three projects). I got the impression that there would be two more Bethesda games before Elder Scrolls 6, and they would be new franchises. People were let down that ES6 isn’t coming next but if you like Fallout and Elder Scrolls, you will probably like the other games. I assume they will also be open world games of similar concepts.. and hey at least Bethesda can continue to hone their skills with new features and perfect them in time for Elder Scrolls 6. I personally feel Settlement building/running has a way to go before it is ES6 worthy.
