Sony PSVR Flaws Exposed In Skyrim Demonstration!

About a year ago, Bethesda revealed that it is their upmost desire to offer Fallout 4 and Elder Scrolls Skyrim on a VR platform. The game developer went as far as offering a preview of Fallout 4 VR and now, they demonstrated their VR progress with Skyrim.

Bethesda went on Gamescom 2017 to demonstrate Skyrim VR and it does look promising, although there are still many rooms for improvements. Some would say that the VR gameplay experience with Skyrim is really rough but this is not accurate at all.

We say so because the roughness in the demonstration was due to the Sony PSVR. The PSVR has no room scale, poor tracking and no smooth locomotion thus preventing a good virtual reality experience.

If you look at a game like Mage’s Tale, it works splendidly in VR. Mage’s Tale is a legitimately good game and mechanically it’s not that different to Skyrim. Fallout 4 VR and Doom VFR are both getting positive previews, unlike Skyrim, in spite of them also being ported to the virtual reality system

Fallout 4 VRlooked near-ready because it was demonstrated on a HTC Vive – a device which has room scale, proper tracking, and the thumb pads. Perhaps the reception would be better if Elder Scrolls Skyrim VR was tested on a similar machine instead of the HTC Vive.
