Tomb Raider Trilogy Piles Pressure On God Of War With Free Offering

Game rivalries are not commonly scoped into as gamers simply pick what they love to play instead of hating on a game to promote their favourites. But for the developers, they would love cancelling out their competitors as having a rival around can only disrupt their sales.

This is exactly what Eidos Interactive and its publishing pals are probably doing right now when they all agreed to let Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider 2 and Tomb Raider 3 Remastered to go off for free on Steam.

All three titles will feature a new 3D engine that promises greater technicalities and those that have previously owned the trilogy can obtain the remastered Tomb Raider Trilogy without forking out a single cent.

The deal will commence later this year and the timing of it has left us suspicious that the move is intended at pressuring God of War. The latter is perhaps the closest thing to Tomb Raider and it has been confirmed for the PS4 early next year.

With Tomb Raider going away for free, God of War may lose a chunk of its limelight thus putting it at risk of failing to meet its sales expectation.
