Uncharted 4 Helps Push PS4 Sales Over The Edge
Having a good AAA game that is bundled together with a console is a form of great sales strategy as the console maker can tap on the popularity of the new title to gain more sales.
The same can be said for the game developer, which can look forward to enjoying great sales by targeting new console buyers. Such a strategy has worked flawlessly in the gaming industry for countless times and we just witnessed it happen again in December last month.
The holiday season basically saw Sony making huge profits from the PS4 that is bundled together with Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
In detail, Sony sold 6.2 million PS4 consoles in the holiday season and this brings up the overall sales figures to 53.4 million units. About half of the PS4 sold in the period are the ones bundled with Uncharted 4, hence the title.
When it comes to overall game sales performance, about 8.7 million copies of Uncharted 4 were sold in the holiday season and this is almost 20% of the overall games sold in that period of time.
