Farewell PlayStation 3 – It Has Been Fun!

Sony has finally decided to cease production of the PlayStation 3 in Japan, and it seems like an appropriate move on company’s part. The console has been around since 2005 and has lived an interesting albeit tumultuous life, especially against the Xbox 360.

Microsoft’s system overtook the PS3 from the get-go, seeing that it was priced lower and had its own charm that Sony struggled to match. In hindsight, the decision to start the PS3 at $500 and $600 seems pretty vulgar even by today’s standards.

But oh how the tables have turned. Years ago, the Nintendo Wii was the best-selling console in the market, but fast-forward to 2017 and the PlayStation 4 has reversed Sony’s fortunes to overtake both the Nintendo Wii U and Xbox One.

In any case, it cannot be denied that the PS3 became home to some amazing exclusives series such as Uncharted and The Last of Us. Now that the PS4 and Xbox One are set to take a backseat to the next generation of systems, would Microsoft turn the console rivalry on its head with the upcoming release of Project Scorpio?
