Nexus 5X, 6P: Another Door Opens For Android 7.1

By  |

It seems that the Nexus phones are no longer receiving any love from Google. Ever since Google launched the Pixel phones, they have been giving the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P the cold shoulder. Even updates for the said devices came out late and this has left many Nexus users disappointed.

For the majority of Nexus 5X and 6P users, they have completely abandon their faith on Google and has taken the rogue-route of getting updates. The official Android 7.1 Nougat update has yet to get released on the Nexus 5X and 6P hence the users are resorting to getting some aid from CM.

CyanogenMod has always been that go-to name for an unofficial Android firmware update and they have already launched the Android 7.1 ROM for a large number of smartphones.

Well, the third-party community is about to get more lively because there is going to be another name that will work just like CyanogenMod. It is called Lineage and the all-new Lineage OS 14.1 is now safe to download for every Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P users.

Lineage OS 14.1 contains the Android 7.1 firmware and you can download it before manually installing it on your smartphone.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the 5x and 6p have had 7.1.1 for quite some time now. Older nexus devices may not, but 5x and 6p are up to date with OS at least until September of this year. After that it will only be security updates.
