No matter how good a smartphone is, they can’t come out bug-free and this is something we have learned to live with. However, in some occasion, the bugs can really messed up some important functions on a phone and this is why there is a need for the occasional update.

Today, one particular bug is creating a huge ruckus in the tech industry and it is one that is caused by Qualcomm’s modem. The bug caught the attention of the masses when a user of the OnePlus 5 reported that his phone can’t dial 911. Every attempt at dialing emergency services ended up in the phone crashing.

OnePlus acknowledge the issue and today, they have sent out an update OTA to fix it for good. OnePlus also shared that the update was developed together with Qualcomm due to the bug being caused by the modem.

The bad news here is that the OnePlus 5 is only the tip of the iceberg. The fiasco caused by the bug has got many smartphone users to try dialing 911 and it led to an awry atmosphere. This is because the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and Motorola Moto G5 are all unable to complete the task.

Until the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Moto G5 and many others get a fix, it looks like the only safe phone is the OnePlus 5. This is unless you are open to swapping your phone for an Apple iPhone.
