2017 Kia GT Fires Warning Shots At Ford Focus RS, Subaru WRX STI

Kia has been eyeing to compete in the performance market for a long while now and it looks like the wait is coming to an end soon. Known as the Kia GT, a concept model was unveiled back in 2011 and it has been confirmed for production ever since.

After 5 long years of waiting, Kia finally confirmed that the GT will be debuting later this year and it will be no different from the 2011 concept. Kia shared that the GT will run on the RWD system and will have plenty of power to offer.

The GT will rely on a number of engines depending on the trims selected by the consumers. The range-topping model is expected to run on a 3.3L turbocharged V6 engine that can develop about 380hp. As for the base model, it is expected to run on the 315hp turbo-4 engine.

Based on the figures alone, we can expect the base GT to compete with the Subaru WRX STI. The range-topping model, on the other hand, will face off with the all-new Ford Focus RS. We can’t wait to see how the GT will perform. Will it have enough to compete?
