2017 Toyota RAV4 Bags Eco Awards, Unfair On Honda CR-V?

By  |

It seems that the Toyota RAV4 is the most fuel efficient compact SUV available here in the US. The RAV4 was named as the winner in various green award ceremonies whereas rival Honda CR-V remains glued to the second spot.

Some would say that this is unfair on the CR-V because the Honda compact SUV is more popular than the RAV4. Sales figures have proven that the CR-V is the number one choice around and this achievement is owed to the fact that the vehicle has got the best balance in power and fuel economy.

The CR-V is now equipped with the brand new 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that can develop 190hp and return up to 34mpg. With such figures, the CR-V deserves more awards than rival compact SUVs.

But then again, the RAV4 comes with a hybrid trim that enables the vehicle to return greater fuel economy figures. The RAV4 Hybrid is the least popular trim in the RAV4 family but its existence allows the RAV4 to earn the rights to be called the most economical compact SUV yet.
