2018 Ford Mustang GT: Manual vs Automatics

By  |

The 2018 Ford Mustang GT is a popular sports car made for the working class and it had just gotten better thanks to the new 10-speed automatic gearbox.

The 10-speed automatics has turned into a hit on the Mustang GT and this is mostly due to it ability to bring out the best performance out of the muscle car. Today, we can finally see how big the gap is between the traditional manual gearbox and the 10-speed automatics by looking at the official drag times of the two setups.

For the Mustang GT with the 6-speed manual, Ford quoted the quarter-mile time to be at 12.6 seconds. The car with the 10-speed automatics, on the other hand, can do a quarter-mile course in 12.1 seconds.

0.5 seconds may not sound like much but in the world of drag racing, the difference is huge. The only positive with getting a traditional manual is for that engaging driving feel which automatics can never offer.
