2018 Ford Shelby GT500 Drivetrain Sounds A Lot Like Nissan GT-R!

It is no secret that Ford is currently working on the next-gen Mustang Shelby GT500 and the car is expected to make its debut next year. Today, an insider from Ford revealed that the GT500 will be running on the AWD system and it will rely on a twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 engine.

Furthermore, the front steering spindles on the GT500 will have splines designed for CV shafts. Hence, the vehicle will be a front engine with a rear transaxle and a driveshaft that goes to the front. Such a setup will allow the GT500 to generate more than 700hp with ease but the mechanism of it does sound a lot like the Nissan GT-R.

Of course, the above information didn’t come out officially from Ford so you should take it with a grain of salt. If it is true, then GT-R owners can look forward to a familiar feel when driving the next-gen Shelby Mustang GT500.
