2018 Nissan Leaf: 3 Attributes That Can Stop Tesla Model 3

By  |

Many would say that the upcoming Tesla Model 3 is going to create a revolution in the automotive industry but this statement is now being challenged by Nissan. The Japanese brand has confirmed on the development of the next-gen Leaf and the car now has a great prospect of killing the Model 3 hype.

This is evident with the current aging Leaf that has performed so consistently on the sales front despite operating on old technologies. On a separate note, Tesla has been anti-selling the Model 3 and this greatly suggests that the car won’t be better than the Model S.

If so, then the 3 confirmed attributes of the next-gen Leaf should be enough for it to temp the 300,000 individuals that has placed a deposit on the Model 3 to concede their order.

The first attribute is the most crucial of all – driving range. The current Leaf can only manage about 120 miles on a fully charged battery. The next-gen model is expected to take a great leap forward with up to 340 miles of driving range to offer in the range-topping trim.

Secondly is with semi-autonomous technology. Nissan has confirmed that their ProPilot system will be debuting with the next-gen Leaf and they describe it to be a lot better than Tesla’s Autopilot.

Last but not least is price. Nissan also mentioned that anything north of $30,000 is not considered affordable. If this is to indicate anything, the upcoming Leaf will have a starting price under $30,000 and this can surely stop the Model 3 from instant success.
