2019 Ford Mustang GT500: EcoBeast Beats Supercharger Speculations!

The next LA Auto Show will play host to a number of exciting launching and among them is expected to be the next-gen Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. The top-of-the-line Mustang is expected to take the stage in LA and it will put an end to the powertrain debate surrounding the car.

The debate is sparked by speculations claiming that Ford will equip the Mustang Shelby GT500 with a supercharged V8. Well, we feel that the speculations have got one part right and it is the V8. Ford has mentioned many times that the Mustang will stick to the V8 despite the downsizing trend.

As for the supercharger, it is more likely for a turbocharger to be equipped on the V8. Ford has invested a lot in developing their turbocharged technology. Heck, Ford has even patented the name EcoBeast which hints on an overpowered twin-turbo V8 in the works.

It gets more convincing when you realize that the latest F-150 Raptor and even the GT relies on turbos. This is why a twin-turbo V8 seems fitting for the next-gen Mustang Shelby GT500 but we can only confirm on this after the car gets unveiled at the next LA Auto Show.
