2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500: Downsizing Is Not In The Blueprint!

By  |

Stricter CAFÉ regulations have forced various carmakers to downsize and this explains why the likes of V12s and V10s are looking like rare offerings in the market. Heck, even V8s are starting to shrink in numbers and this has got many worried for the next-gen Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.

Dubbed as the most performance-capable Mustang of this generation, the upcoming Shelby GT500 is linked to swap them V8s for a twin-turbo V6. Ford has invested a lot in turbo technology and their performance vehicles have done well with a twin-turbo V6 but this is still something we wouldn’t want to see on a Shelby GT500.

Thankfully, Ford share the same sentiment as they believe that there is no point to having the GT500 around if the car is not running on V8s. Several months ago, Ford remarked that they will continue to rely on V8 for the Mustang Shelby GT500 as it is core to the car’s identity.

This is great news for muscle loyalists and we can’t wait to check out on the V8 that will feature with the GT500. Rumours have it that all will be revealed when the Mustang GT500 break its covers at the LA Auto Show later this month and we will update here when that happens.
