2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500: Downsizing Won’t Displace Traditional V8s

One of the things that greatly define the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is a powerful V8 mill. V8s have always been the way for the Mustang Shelby GT500 so when the industry started enforcing downsize program, many are worried that the Mustang’s V8 days are numbered.

Personally, we are equally worried that the next-gen Mustang Shelby GT500 will lose its V8 stature in favour of a high-output V6 engine. The ordinary, mass market Mustang has already followed the path of downsizing when it traded its large engines for small capacity turbocharged 4-cylinder mills. As such, we won’t be surprised if the GT500 loses out on the V8 in a move to downsize.

It is something we don’t wish to see and we can now rest assured that it is not happening. Ford UK broke their silence on the next-gen GT500 several months ago through teasing that V8s have always been the way for the car and it will continue to serve in the next-gen model.

This remark is now backed up by Ford USA, which revealed that the V8s still have a big role to play on the Mustang and they will have something new and exciting to show in the near future.
