2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500: Turbos, NAs & Superchargers

Every passing day brings us closer to the release of the next-gen Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and we can’t wait to check out what the vehicle to offer.

Ford has yet to drop any details on the next GT500 aside from the fact that the car will be sticking to V8s. The V8 mill gave the Mustang meaning hence it won’t be going away on the next-gen model. However, what sort of V8 can we expect to feature on the GT500?

The rumors are divided on this front as some claimed it to be a turbocharged V8 while others believe that the GT500 will have a supercharged unit. Well, the great uncertainty surrounding the mill, we are convinced that the V8 will either be naturally aspirated or turbocharged.

There is just no way for the GT500 to rely on a supercharger when Ford has invested heavily in turbocharged EcoBoost technology. Heck, the carmaker has even patented the name EcoBeast and it greatly hints on the application of a twin-turbo V8 engine.

If the latter is going to be the outcome, then we can expect the Mustang Shelby GT500 to come out with no less than 700hp to offer. But of course, we can only confirm on this once Ford pull the curtains of the next GT500.
