2019 Ford Ranger Beats Tacoma & Colorado Ahead Of Debut

Ford is on the verge of launching the next-gen Ranger here in the US and we cannot be anymore excited for it. The arrival of the Ranger will mark Ford’s return in the midsized pickup truck scene and it looks like the vehicle already has the upper-hand against the competition.

Ford made a shocking reveal earlier today when they revealed that the Ranger 2WD extended cab will rely on the 2.3L EcoBoost engine from the Focus RS. The surprise here is with how Ford has made the right changes with the sporty mill to maximize utility-focussed performance.

The carmaker revealed that the Ranger will have a max payload of 1,840lbs and max towing of 7,500lbs. This is significantly better than what is being offered on the Chevrolet Colorado and the Toyota Tacoma. For comparison sake, the Colorado is rated at 1,566lbs and 7,000lbs. Meanwhile, the Tacoma has a max payload of 1,620lbs and towing of 6,800lbs.

For a vehicle that is not even out yet, the upcoming Ranger is already impressing the crowd with its numbers. More on the Ranger will be revealed during the vehicle’s launching early in 2019.
