2019 Jeep Wrangler Not Giving Up Diesel Dreams

By  |

If there’s one thing missing on the latest generation Jeep Wrangler, it is the availability of a diesel mill. Jeep has promised to offer a diesel option with the new-generation Wrangler prior to the vehicle’s launching and they have yet to deliver their word.

Considering that diesels are unpopular here in the US and have been the subject of huge automotive scandals in recent years, could Jeep be reversing their decision for a diesel mill on the Wrangler?

The answer to this is no. A leak dealer document has surfaced on JL Wrangler Forum and it has convinced us that the diesel-powered Wrangler will make its debut next year.

Deciphering the codes will show the Wrangler coming with Fiat-Chrysler’s 3L V6 CRD engine. The mill is also associated with other engine features like start-stop. It is also worth noting that the CRD unit will be offered with the MY2019 Wrangler 4-door Unlimited Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon models.

We can expect Jeep to make the Wrangler diesel official at the Detroit Auto Show next year before commencing its sale through the 2019 model.
