2019 Mazda CX-5 Exchanges Fuel Efficiency For Power

By  |

We now know that the 2019 Mazda CX-5 will be coming with a new turbo engine and while we are all for having more power on the CX-5, it will come with a cost.

The Mazda CX-5 will now be offered with a new 2.5-liter turbocharged engine that will allow the CX-5 to have more power but then again, more power means worse fuel economy. With the new engine, the CX-5 will now return about 22mpg in the city and 27mpg on the highway.

The new engine will be offering about 250hp and 310lb ft of torque that is a huge jump from the 187hp that the 2.5 liters naturally aspirated engine are offering. The naturally aspirated engine will be returning about 25mpg in the city and 31mpg on the highway.

While it might not be as fuel efficient as the other engine, the turbocharged model’s fuel economy matches what their rivals are offering right now. In fact, Mazda has an added advantage of being half a liter larger and a little more powerful.

The 2019 Mazda CX-5 with turbo engine won’t come cheap either with price starting from $35,865.
