2019 Toyota Supra: Hybrid Powertrain Sourced From Lexus?

By  |

Every passing day brings us closer to the release of the next-gen Supra and we can’t wait to check out what the vehicle will have to offer. Despite getting developed alongside the BMW Z4, the future Supra will be tailored to run on a powertrain from Toyota.

The carmaker has yet to provide any details on the next-gen Supra’s performance but spy shots, videos and insider reports are all claiming that the vehicle will rely on a hybrid setup.

If so, then we find it very likely for the Supra to source its powertrain from Toyota’s luxury arm, Lexus. The LC500h, in particular, relies on a powerful hybrid setup and it may share its parts with the Supra. This means that we may see the Supra running on a 3.5L V6 engine with electric motors that can develop a total of 450hp.

The figures are fitting for the Supra and it will also provide the car with enough power to go fast. But of course, until Toyota brings out the Supra, it is best for you to take the above with a grain of salt.
