While most newer models seem to have no issue with getting some pretty high ratings when it comes to their crash test, the headlights have been the constant reason why so many models are now missing out on the Top Safety Pick + rating.
IIHS has just announced the safety rating for the Volkswagen Arteon which was awarded the Top Safety Pick rating. Despite getting a Good rating for its six crash tests, the vehicle’s headlights were given a Poor rating and are the reason why it had missed out on the Top Safety Pick + award.
The LED lights fitted on the vehicle was said to have poor visibility while the curve adaptive LEDs have “excessive glare. It is a pity since the vehicle actually did pretty well and was given a Superior rating for its front crash prevention system whcih managed to stop the vehicle at 12mph and 25mph.
Of course, Volkswagen could try to give the headlights and upgrade and have IIHS evaluate it again but for now, this is what it is.
