2020 BMW 1 Series: A First For Them

Some people might still need some time to get used to the idea that the 2020 BMW 1 Series will now be offered with a front-wheel drive system.

BMW has been trying to ease into it for years now as they continue to release new models with the front-wheel-drive system. Models like the X1, X2 and 2-Series MPV have already hopped onboard and now it is time to see the BMW 1 Series be offered with one as well.

One of the main reason why BMW choose to offer the 1 Series with the front-wheel-drive layout is the packaging benefits. Thanks to the new FWD, the rear passenger will now have an additional 1.3 inches of leg room. Of course, if you can’t get behind it, BMW will still be offerng the xDrive all-wheel-drive on some of the mdoels.

The BMW 1 Series will come with three diesel engine options and two gasoline options. The Diesel models will be offering about 114hp to 188hp while the gasoline model will be offering between 140hp to 302hp. The BMW 1 Series will still come with a manual transmission option along with a few automatic transmission options.

The BMW 1 Series is expected to make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
