2020 Volvo XC40 Recharge: Volvo Takes First EV Steps

While some of the automakers already have a few EV models to offer, Volvo is only getting started right now with the 2020 Volvo XC40 Recharge model. Well, better late than never.

As the name alone would suggest, this would be the electrified version of the Volvo XC40 model. It will be powered by a 78kWh battery pack that will allow it to offer about 200 miles of range. The vehicle will need 40 minutes to charge up to 80%. The battery will be connected to two electric motors which will have a combined output of 402hp and 487lb ft of torque. The vehicle will only need 4.9 seconds to go from 0-62mph.

While most of the design features will be carried over from the standard XC40 model, people will be able to separate it from the standard just by looking at the grille which is now a solid panel since there is no need for an actual grille. The rear bumper was also updated and it will be fitted with a 19inch or 20incher wheel.

On the inside, the vehicle will be given a new driver interface that was designed with electrification in mind. The 2020 Volvo XC40 Recharge will be going on sale soon although no price was announced yet.
