Audi Q8 RS Wil Be A Hindrance To Bentley Bentayga & Lamborghini Urus

It is official. Audi has launched the all-new Q8 here in the US and the luxury SUV is being priced from $68,395. This is significantly lower than what we expected – especially after learning that the Q8 is being offered with a single powertrain setup.

But after reading up the details on the SUV, we came to realize that the current Q8 is not a vehicle that promises an exciting performance. The Q8 is being towed by the latest 3L TFSI V6 engine that can develop 335hp and 369ft-lbs of torque.

The numbers are pretty basic for a large SUV like the Q8 and it strongly suggests that a higher-powered model is in the works. The rumoured Q8 RS, or as some would say the RSQ8, can do more by operating on a twin-turbo V8 engine.

But then again, we don’t think the RSQ8 will materialize and this is because the Volkswagen Group has already filled the gaps on this front. If a high-end performance experience on an SUV is your dream, you can get yourself a Lamborghini Urus. If luxuries are your thing, there’s a Bentley Bentayga.

Having a Q8 RS around will only overcrowd the scene and it may create unhealthy competition with its siblings from other brands. It’s simply a situation Volkswagen wouldn’t want to see happen.
