BMW 3-Series: Reliability Takes A Hit After Fiery Discovery!

By  |

The BMW 3-Series is one of the most popular luxury vehicles in the market and this has turned into a problem for the German carmaker. Having sold so many 3-Series here in the US, BMW is now having a tough time pulling off a recall order that involves the compact luxury sedan.

An investigation from NHTSA found that the 3-Series, along with several other vehicles from BMW, are at huge risk of catching fire and this is caused by an overheating on the climate control’s wiring and electrical conductors.

About 672,000 3-Series will get recalled and they are those that are produced between 2006 and 2011. BMW is still working on the list of vehicles that are suspected to carry the fault and they will be notifying the owners in the near future.

The timing of the recall came at a bad time, especially when you realized that Consumer Reports had just ranked BMW amongst the top achievers in reliability on the luxury market. This recall will surely have an influence on the reliability chart when it gets updated next year.
