Ford Focus & Fiesta Transmission Issue Did Not Surprise Ford

By  |

Ford is still dealing with the problems their problem six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission on the Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta is causing but it looks like Ford might have anticipated the issue.

According to Detroit Free Press, Ford knew about the transmission issue before the 2011 Ford Fiesta and 2012 Ford Focus was released. The report suggested that Ford’s engineers warned Ford that the transmission was not ready but Ford decided to go ahead and launch the Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus anyway with the plan of fixing it in the future.

Since it was released, it is said that NHTSA received about 4300 complaints about the transmission. The report also claims that Ford did consider replacing the transmission with another but decided that the cost was too high and that the new transmission would affect the fuel economy of the models.

Of course, we still do not know how true this is but you should read the complete report by Detroit Free Press to see what they are saying about the situation.
