Ford Mustang Struck With 10-Speed Glitch, GM Remains Safe For Now

By  |

About a year ago, both GM and Ford brought out a new product that they have developed together. The product is a new 10-speed automatic gearbox that can bring out the best of their cars.

Since the release of the 10-speed shifter, Ford has experienced a surge in sales of the Mustang and this is a clear indication that many really like having the new gearbox on their car.

The unfortunate thing here is that the 10-speed automatic unit comes with a familiar issue and it is the inability to engage into Park properly. This means that the Mustang is always at risk of rolling away – something that isn’t meant to be taken lightly.

If you can recall to just a year ago, there was a huge fiasco that involves the Jeep Grand Cherokee and its poorly designed gearbox. The failed Park feature has led to the death of a popular individual, in the hands of his Grand Cherokee.

With that in mind, Ford is not taking any chances and have since announced on a recall involving every Mustang that is equipped with the 10-speed automatics.

The good news is that the cars from GM that are equipped with the same gearbox are not affected by the problem but we would act cautiously in a bid to be safe rather than sorry.
