Ford Still Affected By Takata’s Error, Recall Issued

Ford will be issuing a recall for their vehicles worldwide so that they can replace the Takata passenger airbags that has been fitted in these vehicles.

The recall will affect about 953,000 units of the vehicle which 782,000 being from the US. Models that are affected by this recall include the 2010 Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX, 2010 – 2011 Ford Ranger, 2020, 2012 Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, 2010 – 2011 Mercury Milan as well as the 2020 – 2014 Ford Mustang.

The Takata airbags were discovered to have inflators that can explode and hurl shrapnel because of the chemical ammonium nitrate in the inflator. Rhe chemical can deteriote over time due to hear and munodity and would explade with too much force which would then blow apart the metal canister and send them hurling towards the passenger.

So far, about 23 people has been killed due to the faulty airbags. Those affected will be notified by Ford on the starting on the 18th of Febraury later this month
