Ford Transit Connect Diesel Engine Taken Out So Soon

By  |

It was only last year when Ford announced that they will be offering a diesel engine option with their Ford Transit Connect model but it looks like they are rethinking that plan now.

According to Car and Driver, Ford will not be offering a diesel engine option on their Ford Transit Connect Van anymore. The diesel engine was a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that was offering about 120hp and 200lb ft of torque. The diesel engine would be mated to an eight speed automatic transmission.

Ford later explain that the reason why they are taking diesel engine out fo the list was because of the lack of demand which is not that surprising because very few diesel powered model actually does well here in the US.

Besides the diesel engine, Ford also announces that they will not be offering the short-wheelbase, five-seat passenger van as well.
