Hyundai & Kia Can’t Take The Heat?

It looks like Hyundai and Kia models might be in a higher risk of catching fire compared to their rivals or at least that is what the Highway Loss Data Institute is suggesting.

According to the reports, owners of a few Hyundai and Kia models file fire insurance claims at a far higher rate than the average vehicle. It later detailed that Hyundai and Kia vehicles with the four-cylinder engines have double the noncrash fire claim rates than the standard comparable vehicles.

The fire claims date indicated that some models had a higher noncrash fire claim rates and this includes the 2011 to 2015 Kia Optima, 2011 to 2014 Hyundai Sonata, 2011 to 2015 Kia Sorento, 2011 to 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe and the 2013 to 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.

The data also suggest that the turbocharged engines have higher claim rates.
