Hyundai Kona EV: MSRP Goal Risking Fairy Tale Debut

By  |

Every passing day brings out more information on the upcoming Hyundai Kona EV and the latest reveal highlighted on the vehicle’s official estimated driving range.

Hyundai announced earlier today that the Kona Electric which features a 64kWh battery will come with an estimated driving range of 258 miles. For perspectives, this is a respectable 20-mile upgrade from the Chevrolet Bolt.

Having revealed the core information on the Kona EV, all that is left for Hyundai to do is announce the pricing of the vehicle. Hyundai will do just that at the LA Auto Show next month and it will determine the sales potential of the Kona EV.

Hyundai has said before that their goal is to have the vehicle retailing under $30,000 and if they are to deliver, the carmaker can look forward to facing some massive supply issues. The Kona EV already has the trendy structure of a CUV and a respectable range. A pricing that is under $30,000 before tax incentives will certainly create the loudest craze in the EV scene yet.

Failing to anticipate this will create a supply issue thus preventing the Kona EV from enjoying a fairy-tale debut like what the Chevrolet Bolt has experienced.
