Is Toyota S-FR Still In The Works?

By  |

Back in 2015, Toyota brought out the S-FR concept which is technically a small sports car that will directly rival the Mazda MX-5 Miata. The aim with the vehicle is for Toyota to appeal to the younger crowd and the concept has done just that.

In short, the reactions have been mostly positive towards the S-FR prototype and it has led Toyota to develop the vehicle further. Since then, the carmaker has never offered a follow-up on the S-FR and many have assumed the project to be dead.

That was the case until today when new reports have surfaced online claiming that Toyota will be pulling the curtains off a compact sports roadster at the 2018 LA Auto Show. No details were offered but we can assume it to be the production-ready S-FR if it is true.

Such a creation can fit in perfectly beneath the Toyota 86 while building on the potential success of Toyota’s next major sports car – the Supra. But until LA actually happens, you should take the above with a grain of salt.
