Jaguar Land Rover Looking At BMW For Crossover Solution

By  |

Reports were suggesting that Jaguar Land Rover could be working on two more new crossover model and that these models could come riding on the BMW platform.

Neither Jaguar Land Rover or BMW have said anything yet but according to Autocar, the vehicle could be in its early stages of development right now and that we might see it arrive in the middle of the next decade but that the vehicle has not been given a greenlight yet at this point.

They added that the vehicles could be coming in as a traditional crossover and a crossover coupe model and that they will be getting the FAAR architecture from BMW, the same platform that the 1-Series is riding on right now.

The FAAR architecture from BMW is said to be more modern than the JLR’s Premium Transverse Architecture and can support conventional, hybrid and electric powertrain. With this platform, Jaguar Land Rover won’t have to spend more on developing a new architecture which would significantly reduce the production cost for the upcoming crossovers.

However, with no official announcement, we might want to take this with a pinch of salt for now.
