Mercedes Project One: Taking Notes From Ford GT Fiasco!

By  |

Exclusivity is a huge deal for pretty much every limitedly-produced, uber-expansive supercar and this has led manufacturers to adopt a different method when selling the said vehicles.

For Ford, they sold the GT by personally selecting names on the sheet of registered interests and the list consists of influential people, as well as those that have a positive background.

The aim here is to preserve the exclusivity of the GT as Ford’s biggest fear is for buyers to adopt the car and turn it into an investment. It pretty much explains why John Cena was selected as he is famously known for being a motorhead, a GT fan and is also a popular figure. But even after ticking all the boxes for the GT, Cena sold off his unit and it led him into a courtroom battle with Ford.

This is something Mercedes-AMG wishes to avoid with the Project One when they revealed today that they are strongly against speculators. Mercedes-AMG did not share their method on how they will sell the Project One but they did mention about a strong contract which buyers must adhere to.

The Project One is the ultimate machine from Mercedes-AMG and it runs on an F1-inspired hybrid setup. Only 275 units of the Project One will be made hence there’s no guarantee for you to own the car.
