Next Ford Mustang Shelby GT500: Saying No To Downsizing

By  |

Stricter CAFÉ regulations have created a downsizing trend in the automotive industry and it got many worried on the future of the Ford Mustang.

The iconic American muscle car is defined by the V8 engines and the downsizing trend has got rumours claiming that the next-gen GT500 is going to lose its definition. The word is that the next Mustang Shelby GT500 will drop its V8 for a twin-turbo V6.

Well, we can now confirm that the rumours are wrong as the GT500 will continue to use a V8. Ford has revealed that they believe there is no point to having the GT500 around if the car is not running on V8s. The carmaker added that V8s give the Mustang meaning and they won’t be changing that.

The only question left to be answered is what sort of V8 will feature on the next-gen GT500? Will the vehicle come with a turbocharged V8 to balance out power and emission? All will be answered when the next GT500 gets unveiled in the near future.
