Next Renault Megane RS Wants To Overtake Civic Type-R & Golf GTI Clubsport

Both the Honda Civic Type-R and Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport have taken the headlines for being the fastest FWD vehicle to ever race on Nurburgring. There is no doubting the speed and performance of both cars and it looks like Renault wants to do something about it.

The French carmaker teased earlier today that they are already working on the next Megane RS and the hatchback will come out with more than 300hp to offer. This suggests that the Megane RS will potentially be more powerful than the Civic Type-R and also the Golf GTI Clubsport.

The amazing thing is that the Megane RS will be sticking to FWD and won’t go to AWD. Also, the Megane RS will rely on a manual gearbox as well as more carbon fibre to give it a lighter profile. The question is, will it be enough to put the Megane RS ahead of the competition or will it end up as a spec sheet hero?
