Volkswagen has made it pretty clear that they are looking to focus on electrifying their line up and it looks like it is not only for the standard Volkswagen model as the Motorsport division announces that they would like to follow along as well.
According to the reports, the Motorsport division will stop developing piston-powered race cars now as they work to shift their attention to electric powertrains. With that, people believe that we might eventually see a performance ID model come out way in the near future.
Of course, it does not look like there is going to be one coming anytime soon but it was added that the team is working on developing a new pillar that will sit in between the production cars and race cars but they did not offer us any additional information.
While Motorsports decides to go down the EV route, we will still see the standard gasoline engines coming from the normal production cars.
