Volkswagen & Porsche Recalls Affects More Than 220K Units

Volkswagen and Porsche will be issuing recalls that will affect up to 227,000 units of vehicles over an airbag and seatbelt pre-tensioner issue.

It was reported that the models that will be affected will include the 2015 build Volkswagen Tiguan, Sharan, and CC. On the side of Porsche, the 2015 and 2016 build Porsche 911, Boxster, Cayman, and Panamera. The KBA federal motor authority in Germany did say that the vehicle will need an update to the software of the airbag control units.

Of the 200k models that are affected, about 23.500 Porsche will be affected by the airbags or seatbelt pre-tensioners triggering when the vehicle is not involved in an accident.

Those affected by the recall will be contacted by the automaker to get the new software installed.
