Volkswagen T-Roc R: A Golf R On Stilts, In The Flesh

By  |

Volkswagen’s all-new compact crossover, the T-Roc, is not aimed at being a one-off vehicle. Instead, Volkswagen wants to build a family of T-Roc where the range-topping model will wear the R moniker.

Today, we managed to get a good look at the T-Roc R after a spy shot of the vehicle surfaced online and we can’t help but to predict that the crossover will be no different from the Golf R.

The T-Roc R will be built on the same underpinnings that are used by the Golf hence we can expect the same sort of powertrain resting under its hood. In other words, the T-Roc R is likely to have about 300hp produced from a TSI engine and power will be sent to all four wheels.

With the T-Rock R sharing the same blueprint with the Golf R, perhaps it is right to say it is a Golf R on stilts. We can expect more details on the T-Roc R surfacing at a major auto show later this year.
