Volvo XC40 Belittling Jaguar E-Pace For Being Too Basic

By  |

Last year saw two new compact luxury SUVs getting released and they are the Volvo XC40 and the Jaguar E-Pace. Both vehicles were certainly loud when making their respective debuts as they want to rise above the long-dominating luxury compact SUVs from Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi.

With such a goal, it breeds high expectations for the XC40 and the E-Pace but only one vehicle managed to capture all the glory – the XC40.

The compact luxury SUV from Volvo was closely compared to the E-Pace by the lads at AutoBild and it confirms that the XC40 is inferior to the British vehicle in terms of performance. The E-Pace can perform better but it is the XC40 that is still the winner because of its more balanced offerings.

The XC40 is can’t outpace the E-Pace but it does boasts greater balance in power and fuel economy. Furthermore, the cabin quality of the XC40 is of the highest order – much like the XC60 and XC90. The same can’t be said for the E-Pace as Jaguar has apparently toned down on the luxuries that are present on the larger F-Pace.

In short, the XC40 has nailed it in living on the definition of a luxury compact SUV whereas the E-Pace imbalances makes it only good on the looks and performance.
