Black Ops 4 Suggest World Is Ready For Digital-Only Consoles

By  |

Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 introduced to the world the ability to purchase and own console video games without leaving the couch. Games can be purchased in digital format and the title can be downloaded once payment has been made.

The only tedious bit with digital downloads is the wait that comes with downloading the said title. But for Call of Duty Black Ops 4, the gamers can easily tolerate the waiting time and this was confirmed by Activision.

The game publisher announced earlier today that Black Ops 4 has achieved the biggest digital launch-day sales in history. Furthermore, sales of the physical copies have struck an 11-year low for Activision and this sends a strong message where gamers are ready for a full-digital experience on consoles.

As it stands, the Xbox One and the PS4 have support for physical discs. The two consoles are expected to get succeeded by a newer product in a few years from now and they may just skip the disc driver.
