China Approves 80 New Games, Tencent Not Part Of It

China is looking to have a tighter grip on games that are making its way into China and they have now lifted the ban for 80 new games today but of the 80 approved, none of it was from Tencent.

Tencent owns apps like WeChat but they also get their revenue from games like Arena of Valor, the mobile game, League of Legends, PlayUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite. Tencent has been struggling to adapt to the new video game rules that China has been implementing. Since the ban, their profit has dropped for the first time in a decade as they could not get their games out to the public.

China Securities Journal announced that they have approved a few games which is a good start but we are not sure when we will see more games getting approved. We will have to wait and see how China work around this issue.
