Microsoft Won’t Get New Graphics Update

A few years ago, Microsoft suggested that Minecraft would be getting an upgrade that would make it look better or different from the Minecraft that we have now.

Called the Super Duper Graphics Pack, Microsoft promise that it would bring “dynamic shadows, lighting that streams through fog, movement in leaves and grass, new texture for mobs and villagers, directional lighting, edge highlighting and more” when it arrives but that is not going to happen anymore.

According to Mojang, the update end up being too technically demanding for them and they ended up canceling their plans for the update. They explain that they were not happy with how the pack performance across devices.

However, they are looking to make it up to the fans in another way. They did suggest that fans will get to experience Minecraft with a new look but did not elaborate further on what that means so we will have to wait and see.
