Apple iPhone 6s Gets Last Laugh Over Galaxy S7 For 2016

Sometimes, the only way to settle the debate between any Apple and Samsung flagship is comparative sales performance for any given period. It’s the best way given that apart from some design cues, the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy are essentially, well, apples and oranges.

Based on UK research firm IHS Markit, it seems that the winner of the sales battle between the iPhone 6s and Samsung Galaxy S7 for 2016 has been decided, with Apple walking getting the last laugh over its bitter rival.

It could be said that the iPhone 6s had a head start over the Galaxy S7, seeing that the latter only landed on store shelves in March. However, the iPhone 6s shipped over 60 million units globally while the Galaxy S7 (Edge) managed about 25 million units.

Even if the Samsung flagship was released on New Year’s Day 2016, it wouldn’t have caught up anyway. As a matter of fact, the four top-selling phones worldwide last year were iPhones. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus placed second and third, despite only being available in the fourth quarter, while the 6s Plus took fourth spot.
