Motorola Moto G6 Gets Bitter Android Pie Promise

By  |

The all-new Motorola Moto G6 has failed to build upon the success of its predecessors and this can be blamed on two things. The first is with the stiffer competition in the midrange scene. The second is with Motorola’s dwindling reputation in offering timely updates.

The latter, in particular, has repelled away many potential buyers from getting the Moto G6. And for those that have actually gotten the phone, they are now worried on their fate with Google’s Android Pie.

It is a worry that cannot be avoided because Motorola has been poor in handling updates for the Moto G5 and even the G4 Plus. The latter, in particular, has been deprived of the Android Oreo update despite being entitled for it.

Unless there is going to be a surprise improvement with Motorola’s after-sales support, the G6 is unlikely to get Android Pie any sooner than June 2019. The firmware may also be the only OS upgrade coming to the Moto G6.
