Sony Xperia XZ2 Gets An Early Bite At Android Pie

Sony Mobile may not be the leading brand in the smartphone scene but this hasn’t stopped them from producing some of the best-rated devices around. If that is not good enough, you should know that Sony has been ahead of the competition in offering timely updates to their products.

The Japanese tech giant has basically done that again by launching Android Pie for the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact. Both phones received the update yesterday and this is right after Sony completed the firmware upgrade on the range-topping XZ2 Premium.

The timely release of Android Pie for the Xperia phones have basically placed Sony ahead of market leader, Samsung. Heck, even LG and Motorola are still pending to deliver Android Pie on their range-topping phones.

But of course, not all things are glittery with Sony as the firmware upgrade arrived with its own shortcomings. One of our readers shared with us that the gestures with Android Pie are disabled and the interface changes with the firmware have been restricted to certain elements only.

Either way, the fact still remains and it is that Sony is ahead of the competition when launching updates. It’s just as good as their method to launch a new product as soon as it is ready for release.
